Muscle circumference (anabolic effects) can be measured to research MYO-029 exposure. Suppression of myostatin (GDF-8) is a vital pathway for muscle-wasting disorders. Studies with NHPs where therapies target myostatin, e.g., MYO-029 (an antimyostatin monoclonal antibody), circumferences are recorded of various muscles - biceps, quadriceps and gastrocnemius. Based on pharmacokinetic (PK)/pharmacodynamic (PD) relationships, the data can be used to determine clinical efficacy in patients with muscular dystrophy.
